Blind Photography

The idea behind the project was to take pictures from various perspectives while being blindfolded. Pete Eckert served as the main source of inspiration. He lost his sight when he was young and turned to photography as a result. He will use his blindness to produce various works of art utilizing anything. This experiment demonstrates that blind people are capable of performing every task that can be performed by humans.

The picture of the trees was the one I chose. I was utilizing my senses of touch, sound, and light. I had to navigate and sense my surroundings by using the sounds of the woods. I put my phone in the air after feeling the tree. The light was in my face, so I knew I was going in the correct direction and knew I was capturing the leaves on the tree. It took a couple tried to get the perfect picture.
I was  capturing the senses of light and sound. I went to the pool and while I was there I took pictures of the water and the moving cars. I thought it was a great concept because you can hear the water in the pool and the lighting was perfect. The fact that you can really get the feel of blind photography at this location was another factor in my decision.

We had to experiment with camera settings like ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed in the shutter speed lab. We had to get a picture of someone deflating the balloon and the water spilling out. The lab was incredibly enjoyable since you could quickly take images of the water escaping the balloon as it was being popped. I enjoyed the lab because I got to experiment with the camera and snap images of the participants as they completed the task. The faces they were making when they burst the balloon were amusing to watch. I was thrilled to have captured the balloon popping and the water motion that was caught.

It was beneficial to learn how to alter the balloon’s shutter in order to alter the long exposure settings because we were able to shoot various sceneries that made use of light and space. It connected to Pete Eckert’s work because Eckert employed long exposures and light painting to layer color, pictures, and light to produce spectral images.

My partner had to stand up while it was dark inside. I instructed her to hold the glow sticks under her chin and to put them together quickly. I then asked someone to build a halo out of their phone’s flash by circling it around her head. The photo turned out wonderfully. I wasn’t anticipating the photo to turn out that way. One of my favorite lab images is this one.

#Book-face

In bookface, a face or other body part is placed next to a book cover that also has a corresponding body part, giving the impression that life and art have merged. In order to complete this project, we had to locate two books, use the other half of the one we weren’t already using, and use the opposite side of the face.

Love hurts by Beverly Scudamore

History of the Future by A.S. King

Overall, the shooting procedure was simple because all I had to do was choose a suitable location and match the book’s face to mine. I had to watch that my fingers didn’t get in the way too much. I applied the filter to both images to make them match the book covers. I think this project was enjoyable because you used your face to complete the book’s missing face.

ABC Photography

Finding objects outside of nature that begin with an alphabet was the goal of this study. The assignment was enjoyable overall, despite the fact that it was a little challenging because I couldn’t find every letter. The letters L, O, X, U, C, H, I, V, Y, and T were the ones I discovered to be the simplest. Z, B, E, G, J, and M were the letters that were discovered to not be found in nature. The following letters were undiscovered by the project’s conclusion: A, D, F, K, N, P, Q, R, S, and W. Those were incredibly difficult to do. Because I never imagined it would be a thing to snap images of alphabets in nature, this initiative caught my attention. There are countless other things you can do with photography. In this project, you have to think very carefully.

Because I appreciate how the ground is marked, image O is my favorite. I noticed my eyes were drawn to it.
I think the image X is the most intriguing because I appreciate how the ground lines are drawn to resemble an X. That was really cool to me.
I made up the word “home.” When I was attempting to decide what term to use, this word immediately came to mind. It holds significance for me since I aspire to someday own my own home and because I find the word endearing.

Constructed Landscapes

The project’s objective was to get items made for food into your pantry or refrigerator so you could use them to create landscapes. Dafna Talmor and Andy Goldsworthy served as inspirations. Dafna Talmor makes her own landscapes by slicing and collaging the negatives from the original landscape photos she has taken. She creates new environments while utilizing real ones. Andy Goldsworthy uses salvaged natural materials to produce ephemeral works of art. Landscapes can be created using art supplies, paper collage, or paint layers, then photographed. Objects from your home that resemble elements of a natural landscape can also be used. The assignment was a little difficult because you had to look hard for artifacts and consider how they related to the surroundings. Overall, the project was enjoyable and taught me that photography can be used for anything; it is not just for taking pictures of people.

My approach to the onion was rather challenging. Two onions, which I had to get, needed to be sliced up. The hardest part is cutting them since onions make my eyes burn. I had to arrange the onions on the table so that they looked like white flower petals. Every time I took the picture, there was a shadow, which made it difficult, but I managed to get it right in the end.
Making the red peppermints wasn’t difficult. I simply placed my phone inside the peppermints box before snapping the picture. It reminds me of scarlet roses that blanket the ground. “Crimson peppermints” is the name I gave to the image.
I used a straightforward process to create the Christmas tree. I took a picture of the white Christmas tree since it reminded me of a tree covered in snow when I stared at it. To make it feel realistic, I made some modifications. I gave the tree the name “Winter Snowy Day” since it makes me feel good and the image feel realistic.

2023 Goals

I discovered a few things about myself in 2022. Prior to trying, I had no idea I could capture different things on camera. I learned a lot from it, including how to hold my camera properly, get better lighting, and pick the ideal background. I still need to work on a few things in the process.I want to take more photos of the environment and of myself in 2023. As a photographer, I aspire to keep improving since practice makes perfect and even if you want to give up, keep trying because your work will eventually get better. I wish to get better at photography as a short-term aim. I intend to have more photos of myself and other miscellaneous photos by the end of May 2023. Additionally, I want to do well academically by then. As a long term goal I want to get out my comfort zone and start going into the world more.

Fantastical was my best effort at a self-portrait. I decided to take this as a photo because I loved how the candle set the mood and tone of the photo it just gives a chill and relaxed vibe.

I had to decide which Renaissance portrait I would try to reproduce with common objects. Even though it was difficult, everything was completed. I got trash bags and put it over my head for the recreation. It was a great experience because you can do anything with photography. Its not all about just taking regular basic pictures.

I enjoyed working on the Photoshop skill project since it taught me how to use a variety of functions, edit, and add and remove elements from a photo.

Self Expression

Self expression is the act of expressing one’s thoughts and feelings, and it can be done through words, decisions, or deeds. Self-expression is crucial since it can aid in life reflection. It enables you to be your best self, realize your greatest potential, and make significant contributions to the society in which you live. By expressing who you are, you can make others better understand you and foster more wholesome relationships in your community. Self-expression helps us embrace who we are more. I cherish school in my life. I find it significant because I believe that success in life requires a complete education. You can learn wholesome life lessons in school as well. Your future is shaped by your education, which also gives you more reasons to live your life as you already do. I am who I am because of my personality. I believe I have a pleasant personality and am able to express it when necessary. It is consistent with how I act and communicate to others, as well as how I express myself. It might also manifest itself in the things I do. “Everyone is talented because everyone who is human has something to express,” is a quote I’ve chosen. Since everyone in the world possesses some kind of talent and benefits from something in life, I agree with the quote.

I choose Katy Perry’s “Roar” because I enjoy the song. I enjoy the song because it talks about overcoming obstacles and rising back to your feet when someone tries to knock you down and prevent you from pursuing your goals.

My boring Fall Break

My break in the fall was dull. I took no special actions. For the majority of the day, I watched TV, napped, and played Tik Tok. I regret not attending the Texas State Fair because I noticed that everyone was. Instead of spending the day inside the house alone and bored, it would have been nice to do something. I feel terrific but yet fatigued knowing that I have completed half of the semester. I can’t wait for school to be over and to be done with it. The last few months have passed by quickly. One month until Thanksgiving break, and I’m feeling fantastic. I am looking forward to the break because I thought the previous ones were too brief. Thanksgiving is a longer holiday, so you get more time off and hopefully no work from other teachers. It’s also a time where you get to spend time with your family.

The American nation observes Columbus Day as a national holiday to commemorate the anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the country. On Columbus Day, some people celebrate by holding fairs and parades, dressing up in vibrant costumes, listening to music, and enjoying cuisine. It should of have been called Indigenous Peoples Day. Native Americans objected to the celebration of a guy who had facilitated their forced assimilation and colonization, so it should have been called that. Several illustrations from various sources include “Columbus is seen as a colonizer rather than a discoverer. His entrance paved the way for the wrongful seizing of land, the massive death toll, and the extinction of Indigenous ways of life.”

Elements Scavenger Hunt

The task involved taking images and matching them to the different elements that was provided. My favorite image was the plant. The element was emphasis through focus. The concept behind the picture was clever and intriguing because I had to position my phone carefully in order to take a good picture. My most successful image was lines to create movement because they appreciated the idea of the photo and how the water was assisting the lines to display more movement, making it my most popular image. Making sure the image is not blurry is one of the adjustments I need to make. Working on framing, location, and making sure the image is made rather than taken are other recommendations that were provided. The teacher favorite image is color.
